"Gun Country" by Michael Murphy
This is a graphic illusion of toy guns in the shape of the United States. The artist created this piece in 2014 and its dimensions are 18' in height, 20' in width and 12' in depth. This piece was intended to stimulate conversation about gun violence in the United States and hold people responsible for their opinions about the topic. The installation stands in Michigan at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts. Being that there has been 11 school shootings so far in 2018, I thought this piece of art evokes thoughtful conversation.
