Claude Monet was recognized as being one of the founders of
Impressionism. Impressionism got its start when several painters began using
natural methods of lighting their work and looking at the world with freshness.
Impressionists generally paint landscape and outdoor scenes, they generally
work for a very short period of time and then stop as the light changes. Monet
found subjects in his immediate surroundings as he painted the people and
places he knew best. His landscapes were based on his journeys around the north
of France and to London and his return to France after the Franco-Prussian
War. His paintings reflect the areas of
Argenteuil, and Giverny, France. His series of the Poppies, really interested
me as it reminds me of a local nature persevere from home. I would like to do my
midterm project on a landscape scene inspired by Claude Monet’s, Poppy Field.
