Paul Cezanne was a french painter famous for his incredibly varied painting style, which greatly influenced 20th century abstract art. Cezanne used short, hatched brush strokes to help ensure surface unity in his work. Also to model individual masses and spaces as if they themselves were carved out of paint. He achieved flatness spatiality through his use of color, while unifying and establishing surface, and affects views of space and volume. Cezanne did a lot of still life painting which is what I will be doing for my midterm.
