At a young age, Keith Haring developed a love for drawing
and learning basic cartooning skills from his father and the popular culture
surrounding him, such as Walt Disney and Dr. Seuss. In the 1980's, Haring’s
artwork became popular all around the world. All of his paintings portray serious
messages. A famous painting of his is “Untitled”
that was created in 1982. This image is
so innocent yet so controversial. It represents two homosexual men in love and it becoming a bold statement to the world. At this time, homosexuality was not
really accepted, and by Haring creating an image that represents this type of
love was really courageous. Haring’s hopeful attitude towards humanity and the
power of love is seen throughout all of his paintings.
