Michelle Obama

I chose this portrait because it was intriguing to me. The woman that created this portrait is named Amy Sherald. The dress that is shown here was created by Michelle Smith. It was a "forward looking" dress and did not reference anything from the past. To me it was interesting because there are so many pictures of Michelle Obama, but this one shows a different side of her. I loved the choice of making her skin a grey color. This goes to show that race should not be based upon color. I also liked that this was not a traditionally portrait, but rather it is progressive and forward thinking.
