Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter and known for her self-portraits. She painted using very bright and vibrant colors which embodied her Mexican culture. Many of her painting were said to express her pain and sexuality. The picture above is called Henry Ford Hospital which shows Kahlo in a hospital bed naked with several items around her including a fetus, a snail, a flower, a pelvis, etc. All these items are connected to her by veinlike looking strings. This painting was meant to tell the story of her miscarriage.
