Sol Lewitt
I found this article really amazing. A homeowner knew that in her home under sheet rock mud was a Sol Lewitt drawing. The homeowners father was doing some "construction work" when he reveled part of this Lewitt painting, his daughter owns the house and was not home but made him stop uncovering it so no damage would be done. The drawing is of a blue grid of squares with red and yellow lines. The women who owns the house and the pigment on the wall does not own this Sol Lewitt painting. The Menil Foundation owns the piece of art since the house was left to them in the past. They say that they do not have an issue with the homeowner doing any projects in the house. The fact that this women does not own the painting is really crazy in my opinion because she paid for the house and everything in it so i do not understand why she would not own the drawing which is on the wall of her house that she owns! I do think it is awesome that the homeowner is familiar with art because if she was not i think that she would fight for the rights to the painting just to get the money.
