A Houston Homeowner Is Uncovering a Painted Over Sol LeWitt on Her Wall- but She Doesn't Own It
The article that we read talked about how a homeowner from Houston is trying to uncovered a hidden Sol LeWitt drawing that was tucked away in her wall. Once she had found the piece in her wall she tried to chip away at the wall to get it out. Even though she owns the wall and owns the pigments on the wall she does not own the Sol LeWitt drawing. The drawing isn't colors on brick but is the idea of the work in the form of instructions that was left by LeWitt on how to actually execute the piece.The fact that you can own the house where art work is hidden, and you can own what is around it, but not own the actually piece is interesting to me.
