Sol LeWitt

After reading Isaac Kaplan's article "A Houston Homeowner Is Uncovering a Painted-Over Sol LeWitt on Her Wall—but She Doesn’t Own It", I have become very fascinated with the art style known as Sol LeWitt and I am very eager to see the diversity of it in the world of art. What was so astonishing about this article was that it described the uncovering of a piece of art that has not seen the light of day in years. Mrs. Hitchcock discovered a piece that was so valuable and precious that it needed an extensive amount of carefulness when being unraveled from the wall. The article continues by explaining that there is a constant debate on whether or not Mrs. hitchcock should sell the piece of art or keep it for herself. In my personal opinion, Mrs. Hitchcock should keep the Sol LeWitt in her hands. The artist would be extremely pleased with whom they have left their piece of art. Selling the Sol LeWitt to a random stranger could damage the worthiness and appreciation of the uncovered Sol LeWitt. In my opinion, the Sol LeWitt should ultimately be focused as a piece of art rather than a money maker. I believe that art in general should be more appreciated and not necessarily always used for financial reasons.
