Sol Lewitt

A Houston Homeowner Is Uncovering a Painted-Over Sol LeWitt on Her Wall—but She Doesn’t Own It

I think this article was interesting in the fact that this hidden treasure was buried beneath a homeowner's wall for a long time before the discovery. The temptation to uncover the rest of the painting must be overwhelming considering the homeowner's daughter was a big art fan herself. I think that the biggest issue in this article is the designation of art. Although most people think of art as a tangible product, a painting, a sculpture, a drawing, etc. in this case, the art is the intellectual plan behind the creation of the piece, or the instructions. I think it puts a new spin on what we think of as art. Also, I think that having a famous painting in your home has to be such a fascinating discovery.
