David Hockney

David Hockney

David Hockney created this piece, Garrowby Hill, in 1998. Hockney created this piece when moving from Los Angeles, back to his home county of Yorkshire. He was inspired by the countryside and decided to capture it in a painting. He uses an array of bold colors to illuminate this painting. He easily could have painted this exactly how he saw it, but he decided to use these bright colors to bring this painting to life. This is what intrigued me about the piece. He took something traditional and put his own style into it. Currently, this piece sits at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts.
