David Hockney
This painting is called Portrait of an Artist (Pool with two figures) by David Hockney in 1972. The painting is set in France and depicts a male swimming in the pool with a male figure, meant to represent David Hockney's former partner, Peter Schlesinger, in a suit overlooking the pool. I like the landscape in the background of this painting because of its realism and the depth it possesses. I also really appreciate the pool and the refraction of the water with the sunlight. I picked this painting over his others because I enjoy the realistic qualities of the piece and the colors he chose to depict his scene.
